Growing up in a home where religion was more an afterthought than it was a daily practice, I struggled to understand my purpose and the ultimate question – the meaning of life. Looking back, I see how God was constantly tugging at my heart and pulling me in a direction that would eventually lead me to a crossroad in my search to find answers. There was an itch that could never be satisfied, an itch to understand my purpose and life’s meaning. I eventually came to understand it was a God-given itch that drove me to seek and understand Him. I did everything I could to scratch the itch, meeting failure at every attempt before being confronted with God.

August 3, 1996, on the verge of collapse at home, work and life in general, several folks from a local neighborhood church unexpectedly stopped by to share the gospel. That night God opened my wife’s and my eyes to the truth - finally the itch was getting scratched! We didn’t wake up to unicorns and rainbows; however, our relationship with the Creator and Sustainer of the universe was set in motion and we’ve been walking this journey ever since. God has clearly exposed the meaning of life and our purpose, and now the primary itch is to simply get to know Him better.

In His faithfulness, He has been revealing more and more of who He is, who we are as His children, and how to find joy and peace in a broken world. Coming to faith with my best friend Angela has been a blessing beyond measure. We have raised 2 children (Cameron and Mackenzie) and they are both married now serving Christ and His church in many ways. God has also blessed us with 2 amazing grandchildren – Baylor and Lyla.

Life may not be perfect, but God is and so is His plan. Through challenging circumstances, we’ve seen Redeemer live out the mission of being “broken people loving broken people”. Our prayer is that God will use us in whatever manner He sees fit to bring Him honor, glory and praise.
