BAPTISM TESTIMONY | ABBY HERRINGTON

On Sunday, April 25th, we celebrated the miraculous work of the Lord at a Baptism Service at Redeemer. These services are a sweet reminder of what the Lord has done in the life of each follower of Jesus. The testimony below is from Abby Herrington.

I have grown up in a family that goes to church.  I just went to church because that’s what everyone around me did. A Christian household and a Christian school was the only thing I was use to. I was reading my Bible because I was told that’s what Christians do. One Sunday in church, Pastor Micah said something that stuck with. He said “Do you understand what you are reading and do you understand why you are reading it?” I couldn’t really answer that question. I started praying that the Lord would show me how to understand better.

This past summer I went to youth camp. One night we talked about how sin truly has taken over each and everyone of us, but there was hope in Jesus. Jesus wasn’t giving up on me and never would. Those words really hit me. I went into the bathroom and cried because it all made sense. I understood all those things in the Bible I had been reading. I understood why I was praying. That night I understood that I didn’t have to walk in darkness anymore and all my sins could be forgiven forever.

After trusting Jesus my eyes have been opened and I understand so many things better. I read my Bible and pray because I want to -- not because it’s what everyone tells me to do or what I see everyone doing. The Lord continues to walk with me and I know he will never leave my side. I know he will never give up on me not matter what trials I might face in my life. I know I will never be alone.
