BAPTISM TESTIMONY | MARIA REYNA

Baptism is a symbol of the new life believers have in Christ. This is Maria Reyna’s public profession of faith in Jesus from her baptism on Sunday, June 22, 2025.

I grew up in the Catholic church and we were actively involved as a family, so when I had the blessing of attending college at TWU, I knew that if I wanted to pursue a relationship with God that I needed to find a church. First, I tried attending a Catholic church in the area, but I just didn’t feel a spiritual or personal connection. So I decided to go out of my comfort zone and attend a college ministry called Overflow. It was my first introduction to worship. When the song started, I heard the crowd lift their voices and saw their hands raise in praise. I was moved to tears at the beauty and my heart was changed. I could feel God’s presence for the first time in a long time. So I pursued it, but not without some bumps along the way. My relationship with God was rocky at best. I had to learn that doing good deeds wasn’t making up for my sin and it wasn’t what God wanted. He wants my heart, my full obedience, my trust and He deserves it all. His love is a gift and all I needed to do was accept it. I am so glad I don’t have to earn it or live in shame. Praise God for turning my sin, disobedience and shame into His glory! God has been gracious in answering my prayers through Redeemer. My prayers for understanding of God’s word, Christian friendships, forgiveness and encouragement I didn’t know I needed. Jesus thank you for your sacrifice on the cross that I may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The gift of our Father dwelling in me and I in Him.
